FLOOR & EVENTS MANAGER

Job Title: Floor & Events Manager

Department: Front of House

Location: Nobu Los Angeles

Employment Type: Full-time

Reports to: General Manager

Rate: $70K - $75K annual + Commission

 

OVERVIEW:

  • Along with the General Manager and other department managers - responsible for the daily operations of the restaurant, including profitability, monitoring all costs and controls while not compromising guest satisfaction or quality.
  • Operate the restaurant to the highest of standards; to comply with Nobu procedures and policies and applicable laws governing health and safety regulations and labor laws.
  • Maintain the Nobu standard and ensure excellent customer service.
  • Work closely with General Manager, department managers, Nobu chefs and executives in promoting the company’s culture, mission, and philosophy.
  • Maintain excellent guest relations and develop a loyal clientele, including VIP’s and regulars.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Staff Management:

-Assist in hiring, coaching, disciplining, counseling, and conducting performance reviews.

-Train and mentor Front of House staff.

-Fill in for General Manager when he/she is not present at the restaurant.

-Assist in assigning and changing Floor Staff schedules.

-Build staff morale while providing constructive criticism to reduce turnover.

-Ensure safety measures are being implemented and followed.

-Develop and maintain strong relationships with management and executive staff in other Nobu restaurants.

-Follow and maintain proper time-keeping practices for staff on the restaurant's payroll system, Paycom.

  • Cash Control & Administration:

-Follow and enforce restaurant cash handling policies and ensure cash security.

-Follow and enforce proper POS operations and tracking of credit card sales and reporting.

-Manage cost controls.

-Perform daily opening and closing duties.

-Record daily sales.

  • Dining Room Service Management:

-Seat the room and ensure it is running smoothly.

-Ability to utilize OpenTable system and understand reservation policies and strategies to maximize profit potential.

-Take requests for bookings.

-Ensure the front desk is set up and ready for service.

-Ensure that guests are informed about their table-wait time and other pertinent information.

-Communicate with Maitre’d, lead host/hostesses and floor staff regarding late tables, VIP’s, regular guests, out times and seating plans.

-Maintain efficient flow of returned tables for reservations.

  •  Events Management:

-Report to General Manager & Corporate Director of Events.

-Responsible for the entire life cycle of events, which include: Handling leads to executions, planning with chefs to completing financial transactions, representing the brand, reporting sales and commissions.

-Plan, execute and settle all on and off premise group bookings, private dining, catering events as well as non-profit and charity events.

-Deliver the brand standards of unique and outstanding customer service while ensuring a clear and effective line of communication with the operation team.

-Contribute to the profitability of the restaurant through maximizing all event revenue opportunities.

-Travel as necessary to off-site events and other Nobu locations.

-Staff management, including scheduling for events and communicating details of events.

-Daily communication with department managers and reporting to the Corporate Director of Events.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

-Product Knowledge, including familiarity with the Nobu brand, food, beverage, event and restaurant software, local events, etc.

-Cultivating Customer Relations and Sales.

-Understand and adhere to company policies and procedures.

Preferred Experience:
*1+ years Floor and Event management experience in a fast paced, fine-dining restaurant or hotel.
